Biographical Note (September 17, 2016)

Ann Bogle’s short stories, prose poems, interviews, and essays have appeared online in Black Ice, Big Bridge, Mad Hatters’ Review, Istanbul Literary Review, Blip, Wigleaf, Metazen, Minnetonka Review, Whale Sound, Big City Lit, fwriction : review, THIS Literary Magazine, Ragazine, Wordgathering, Intellectual Refuge, Thrice Fiction, Altered Scale, Annandale Dream Gazette, Asymptote, Camroc Press Review, Blue Fifth Review: Blue Five Notebook Series, New Flash Fiction ReviewTruckConnotation Press, Women in Clothes, and Fictionaut, and other journals and anthologies.  Her weblog is Ana Verse.  Her short stories have appeared in print journals including The Quarterly, Gulf Coast, Fiction International, The Washington Review, Submodern Fiction, The Lyre, and Gargoyle.  Her poems have appeared in onedit, ~*~ W_O_M_B ~*~, P.F.S.  Post, MiPOradio, The Argotist Online, and other journals.  Her reviews of books and performances have appeared in Chant de la Sirene, Mad Hatters’ Review, Rain Taxi, American Book Review, Big Bridge, and in her monthly series, Books at Fictionaut.  Audio interviews about her writing and life appear on kaffe in katmandu and Asheville FM.

XAM: Paragraph Series, prose poems, with lithokons by mIEKAL aND, was published by Xexoxial Editions in 2005.  dog barks up a tree at the apple left in it under a deerslim moon, 18 poems, was published by Dusie Kollektiv in 2008.  Solzhenitsyn Jukebox, five stories, and Country Without a Name, 24 stories and prose poems, were published by Argotist Ebooks in 2010 and 2011.

She edited creative nonfiction and book reviews at Mad Hatters’ Review from 2008–2012 and served as co-editor of poetry with Marc Vincenz in 2011.  She edited fiction at Women Writers: a Zine from 2008–2010.  She served as fiction reader at Drunken Boat from 2010–2013. She was guest fiction editor of 21 Stars Review and anthology in 2008. She was assistant editor of MSS. in 1987.

She participates and contributes content regularly on Facebook as Ann Margaret Bogle (Ann Bogle), Twitter as Ann_Bogle (Ann Margaret Bogle), and Fictionaut.

She cross-trained at University of Wisconsin-Madison, Binghamton University, and University of Houston in writing: short fiction, flash fiction, novella, prose poetry, poetry, poetics, creative nonfiction, essay, letters, and diary.  She trained in literature as a generalist in English and in comparative literature in translation, women’s literature, feminist theory, and linguistics.

She is the recipient of a grant in creative nonfiction from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Her scholarships and fellowships include Mary Brabyn Wackman, Inprint, Stella Ehrhardt, and Newhouse.

She is a Minnesota native and lives in Minnesota where she teaches writing privately.
